International Taoist Tai Chi ™ Awareness Day 2011
Edinburgh: information for participating members
Why
- Awareness Day is an annual event, and this year it's the 30th Anniversary of TTCS GB
- By coming you offer support to the Society at a major event; be prepared to be directed
- We're looking to get at least 500 members doing the Set at the appointed hour
Where
- Ross Bandstand, Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh. Toilets & bag storage on site
- Maps and location information:
When
- Saturday 13 Aug 11; Arrive in Edinburgh around 11:30; Assemble at bandstand for 12:30; Sets from 13:00-15:00; the main Set at 14:00
Who
- Everyone. All members – old members, new members – plus friends & family welcome
Travel
- Based on responses to sign up sheets in class, Branches will charter buses direct to the Gardens. To help the chartering, sign up early. The buses will be FREE, but donations welcomed towards costs of buses (cost to TTCS is around £10/head), either at class or on the day.
- Public buses or trains may also be suitable from some parts of Scotland. Arrange to travel together if you can
What to wear
- The 30th Anniversary/ Year of the Rabbit shirt, and black trousers. Black shoes. No bright hats please. Folk in non-standard kit may be asked to go to the middle of the Set, hidden from the cameras.
- There should be shirts on sale on the day (£10), but best to order at class first if you can
- If it's cool, wear layers under your TTCS shirt
- If it's raining, we'll go ahead anyway (ask about Awareness Day in Ottawa). We'll have disposable see-through ponchos available. Or wear a coat under your TTCS shirt.
- We'll have official photographers; no need to bring cameras, come to do tai chi and help
Catering
- There's a coffee stand nearby but we don't really want 500 people in a queue all day
- Best to bring a picnic to eat outside, or plan to eat in Edinburgh, from 11:30-12:30
- Bring water to drink. We’ll not be providing any bottled water this year
- There will be a hospitality tent for Invited Guests – regrettably can't cater for members
Accommodation
- If you need somewhere to stay over, we'll try and put you up with local members
- Best to get there and back on a Society charter bus if you possibly can
Questions
- Ask your instructor, or the Branch Awareness Day coordinator
