14 Aug 2010 - 40th Anniversary Year Awareness Day events around GB

International Taoist Tai Chi Awareness Day is held each year to celebrate and promote the many benefits of Taoist Tai Chi arts of health for physical, mental and spiritual health and well-being. Members, family and friends from more than 25 countries will gather in Toronto for public demonstrations, parades and festivities.

For members who can’t get to Toronto , Regional events around GB will offer a local parallel. Join us on Saturday 14th August 2010 at the locations listed below. You will have a chance to see the full Set and discuss any aspects of the Society with our members.

Colchester Castle Park is at the heart of Britain's Oldest Recorded Town. The Norman keep, built on the foundations of a Roman Temple, is in a beautiful setting which includes the Hollytrees Mansion, formal gardens, an ornamental fish pond, a play park and boating lake. It makes an ideal day out with something for all the family.

The International Taoist Tai Chi Awareness Day demonstrations will take place on Hollytrees Lawn from 10:00 to 16:00 with special emphasis on the big set at 15:00.

Also, VIP guests will be invited to lunch at the European Centre and taken to the Park to view the 15:00 demonstration.

Launch of the ITTCS Blog: The Tiger's Mouth

Followers of the TTCSGB Weblog will already know that the blog was put on hold for a while, to await further developments in the Society's presence on the internet. With the launch of the ITTCS Blog - The Tiger's Mouth - it has been decided to suspend the GB blog indefinitely in favour of the new ITTCS one. The latter brings the members of the Society together in a more global family sense, where we can all benefit from a wide perspective of the Society's news and activities. There are already many articles on the blog which should stimulate thought and understanding of the health and wellbeing aspects of the arts we practice.

20 Feb 10 - Society Funds Rebuilding of Schools in Haiti

Members of the Society are raising funds to help rebuild schools in Haiti following the devastating earthquake.

The International Taoist Tai Chi Society (ITTCS), of which the Society in Great Britain is a member, has a history of helping in the aftermath of disasters, such as the 2004 tsunami. The ITTCS made a pledge of $25,000 to the Montreal-based Foundation Paul Gérin-Lajoie, which has been focusing on educational development in Haiti since 1976.

Members in Great Britain have so far donated £6300 to support this pledge but due to the generosity of the members worldwide the Society was able to present $100,000 CDN to the Foundation on Saturday 20th February at an annual Chinese New Years Banquet in Montreal. Donations are still coming in and will continue to be presented to the Foundation as they accumulate.

As a Taoist monk, Master Moy was dedicated to the relief of suffering and following his lead, the Society focuses its relief effort on helping children, choosing to support longer-term rebuilding projects, whilst governments and international agencies focus on the initial help and relief.
