13 Nov 11 – Premises update
New Scottish Regional Centre at Marionville Road

The National Board of the Taoist Tai Chi Society of Great Britain are delighted to announce the purchase of premises at Marionville Road in Edinburgh.

We would like to thank, unreservedly, the Fung Loy Kok Institute of Taoism for purchasing the building and allowing us to develop it for use as the Scottish Regional Centre to make available arts taught by Master Moy Lin-shin that we all understand to be of benefit for the entire community.

We are particularly thankful to the International Taoist Tai Chi Society and Fung Loy Kok Institute of Taoism for purchasing this building as a centre for training in the Taoist Arts that Master Moy left us. We are thankful to all the members worldwide for their support for this centre.

We would also like to thank President, Karen Laughlin, and the directors of the International Taoist Tai Chi Society for their support and perseverance over the many long months of investigation and negotiation - we couldn't have done it without them.

We will endeavour to raise funds, as quickly as possible, so they can be returned to circulation for other Society projects around the world.

Congratulations and thanks also to all members, in Edinburgh, Scotland, Great Britain and worldwide for supporting this project with time, energy and money and we humbly ask that you continue to do so as we begin to make the building fit for purpose.

This project offers to us all the chance to take forward Mr Moy's vision for making Taoist Tai Chi ™ internal arts of health available to all, to further develop the Society and realise all the aims and objectives, to work and train together in a new way, to learn new skills, and to offer members in GB and particularly in Scotland a new home and a new way to experience themselves and the Society.

The path to the purchase of this building has been a long one, with many ups and downs and we would like to thank all those members who have worked tirelessly and continuously and maintained enthusiasm throughout the process.

Now the work truly begins as the Society in Scotland and beyond embarks on the next stage of development. The building has lain empty for some time, and it will need to be refurbished to a habitable standard before it can be used but we intend to make it serviceable and move in as quickly as possible. We will then begin to work out what we need to do to make it a comfortable home. When this work is done we will have buildings capable of hosting workshops in every one of our three regions.

Mr Moy taught us the importance of owning and developing homes to give us stability in our training, and how working together on such projects could create a clear sense of purpose and strengthen and deepen both our practice and our relationships.
